When I've done that, though, I'm not sure which direction to head. Do I try to find an agent that will submit me for me? Then the pain of rejection is one step removed :-) Or do I take charge of my own life and submit it to another publisher? As has been said elsewhere (many times and not by me!), the time involved really sucks. Lonnie mentioned that it could take a year for the thing to be accepted.
