Countdown over

May 21st, 2007

For those who’ve been waiting supportively with me for the reply from Tekno, I have news. My manuscript “does not quite suit their needs at this time.”

  1. There are some choice words I could say to their rejection of your book. Unfortunately, “they” edited them out.

  2. I just need to take another look at the manuscript. And make a list of publishers to contact. Or find an agent. Or all three!

    I appreciate the thought.

  3. Cheryl, I am so sorry! They are low born scum, the muck of the earth, insignificant in the affairs of mankind, unconscionable wanks, mediocre editors, illiterate cretins, incompassionate jerks, intemperate drunks, sadistic child beaters, and uncouth troglodytes anyway. I hope you sell a billion on Amazon and then tell the world that THEY turned you down (whoever they are).

  4. The part that really got me is that they ARE publishing Geezer Lit, which is what my book is.

I confess that I really haven’t a clue where to go from here. Once I’ve cried myself out I’ll have to take another look at the manuscript and see what can be changed.

When I’ve done that, though, I’m not sure which direction to head. Do I try to find an agent that will submit me for me? Then the pain of rejection is one step removed :-) Or do I take charge of my own life and submit it to another publisher?

As has been said elsewhere (many times and not by me!), the time involved really sucks. Lonnie mentioned that it could take a year for the thing to be accepted. Then another six months at least before it’s in print.
