New Review Just In
January 15th, 2007I’m happy to report another review is just in. This one is from Debra Gaynor, who reviews for Reader Views. She has this to say about what she calls the “game of murder”:
“I eagerly turned pages to see what the seniors would come up with next. This is an excellent read. I highly recommend this book to all mystery lovers.”

My coworker who is an avid reader and loves mysteries of any kind, completed reading your book and had this to say about it (she’ll write a real review when she feels better. She just came back to work after a couple weeks of being ill.) She said, “I really enjoyed this book because it was so different. It was interesting to discover the book was a whydunnit rather than a whodunnit. I especially enjoyed the romance! My dad was 45 when I was born and so grew up among older adults. It was fun to see this story centered in a senior center with seniors as the major players. I went to the library to find other books by Cheryl and there were none. I was disappointed.”

I’ve heard the comment about the romance often now that I’m beginning to think I’m in the wrong genre. Harlequin (or whomever) here I come! Stan and Teresa were fun to write about — wait until you see what happens at the end of the second book in the series. All I’ll say is, “On Top of Ol’ Smoky.”
As for there not being any other books, hmmm. Guess I need to put this second one to bed, finish off the sci-fi volume I’m working on, and flex my fingers for the third in the series.
I’ll be pitching the second (or maybe the sci-fi) at the Love Is Murder convention in February.

Congrats on the great review! You’ll love Love is Murder, by the way. I went last year and had a blast. A friendly bunch. Best of luck with the pitches - just keep throwin’ strikes!

I really enjoyed your book. The characters were
funny. It wasn’t a slap
you in the face humor. Perhaps because I have a
nursing home ministry that
I found the humor. The people at the card table
reminded me of my husband’s
grandmother. She said exactly what she was
thinking. She considered it
wisdom.
The people sitting there playing cards and
nonchalantly talking about murder
and in their minds plotting one. I guess I’m weird
but I found it ironic
and funny.
Keep up the good work. You are very talented.
I will be donating the book to the Hancock
Public Library. Their
